Cullaloe 11th June 2015

Another quickie, 22:30-23;30, produced a few records and a long-anticipated Peach Blossom. Mostly the place was crawling with Silver-ground Carpets. Three Brown Rustics and a couple of Brimstone were also present, a pug I haven't ID'd yet and a couple of also as-yet-unidentified micros

(Pug was Brindled)

Inverkeithing, 10 June 2015 - Dark Gorse Piercer

Sinister name for a tiny botherer of Gorse. There seemed to be plenty flitting around the gorse but it didn't look any the worse for wear. Mind you I think it only bothers the seeds

Another office tick - Common Swift

Found on the wall at lunchtime above the uplighter. Interestingly as many mornings I checked the wall this morning and there was no sign. I'm assuming they crawl up from some hiding place during the morning

Mossmorran, Fife, 25th May 2015

A large emergence of day-flying Common Heath moths has occurred at Mossmorrran, with 100s on the wing and moths flying up at every step through the heather. Given the ongoing work there that seems to relate to peat extraction maybe we should make the most of it while it lasts
