Chestnut and Dark Chestnut

The Dark Chestnut must be considered putative at the moment though it looks good to these untrained eyes. So ... this is a lesson on the variability of Chestnuts! It looks very much like these will be both Chestnuts as the shape of the rear end in particular is not consistent with Dark Chestnut. I also read somewhere that they aren't generally seen after Christmas, which is a point worth noting (if true!)

Two years ago on 13/02 same species recorded at uplighters on office wall

 

Dalgety Bay 30/01/2017 - Hebrew Character

One moth in the garden MV trap last night - a Hebrew Character. One more moth than I was expecting at 5 degrees

First macro of the year - Mottled Umber at Kinghorn, 08/01/2017

Been a few of these about it would seem but this one was found resting in daytime on the harbour wall. A couple of days earlier my garden trap produced nothing but clearly it's worth getting it on whenever a weather window opens
